ONS-FITP v2.0 – Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP from Installation to Protection Release 9.6

This 5 day instructor led training class is presented by Cisco training partners to their end customers. Channel Partners in North America and the UK hire proven AMS Subject Matter Expert Cisco Certified Systems Instructors (CCSI’s) to teach on-site or on-line classes.

This class is a lab-intensive course where students will learn the skills necessary to deploy a Cisco Optical Networking System (ONS) 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) network from installation to protection (FITP). Students will also learn fiber-cleaning techniques, fiber test requirements, and how to perform node turnup. The course covers three shelf types, the M12, M6, and M2. You will learn to deploy linear and ring dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) topologies. The class covers multiplexer/demultiplexer cards, Erbium doped fiber amplifier cards, Raman amplifiers, transponder cards, and the newest Cisco any rate muxponder and crossponder cards. These cards are used in terminal, amplifier, and reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) node configurations. You will configure wavelength selective switch (WSS) rings and single-module ROADM (SMR) rings. Using Cisco Transport Planner, you will design a DWDM network and use the output to configure the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP node. This MSTP-FITP course covers 10-Gigabit unprotected circuits and 10-Gigabit protection using Y-cable, optical channel transport unit-2 (OTU-2), and protection switch module (PSM) cards.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this class, you should be able to:
• Connect and configure a Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP chassis
• Identify node configurations according to card population
• Provision DWDM circuits using the Cisco Transport Controller
• Conduct performance monitoring, alarm verification, and fault isolation
• Provision M12 WSS and M6 SMR nodes in ring topologies
• Understand configuration options for the any rate muxponder/crossponder
• Perform Raman amplifier initialization
• Isolate optical network issues

Prerequisites:
Following are the prerequisites for this class:
• Familiarity with the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP family
• Knowledge of SONET or SDH structure and hierarchy
• Knowledge of DWDM basics
